This workshop is aimed at staff from agencies that have contact with clients who have been sexually abused. It will be of benefit to staff new to this client group and who already have some experience.
Course Length
Two days
Aims:
To provide an overview of the subject and an opportunity to explore & develop strategies for working with this client group.
Following completion of this course participants will:
- Have an understanding of the impact of sexual abuse on individuals
- Have an understanding of pre-determining factors such as familial influences and links with other forms of abuseLook at where? how? and why?
- Individuals choose to present their story and what you as a worker can do to help
- Have explored the impact of gender difference on working with survivors of sexual abuse
- Have an awareness of how to ‘contain’ the materialBe able to explore therapeutic process, options and models of treatment
