This course is suitable for all workers who come into contact with housed drug users such as Drug Workers, Housing Officers and Advisors, Resettlement Workers, Hostel Workers, Street Outreach.

Aims:

To dispel the myths and learn the facts that surround Section 8 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971and highlight good working practice with this group of service users.

Following completion of this course participants will:

  • Have a solid understanding of the law relating to drugs on the premises and S8 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971
  • Be able to explain how to protect themselves and their organisations from prosecution under various legislation relating to drugs
  • Have considered the implications of providing ‘sharps bins’ for housed drug users
  • Have explored appropriate interventions available when witnessing use, supply and production of drugs on premises.
