This 2-day course is designed to be suitable for workers from a range of work backgrounds.

Aims:

To provide a practical set of Brief Interventions that can be applied by workers to help young substance users in a range of settings. To offer up to date information about alcohol, drugs and young peoples substance use.

Following completion of this course, participants will:

  • Have explored ways of using Brief Interventions with young substance users
  • Have opportunities to practice skills in Brief Interventions
  • Have considered factors which contribute to young peoples motivation to change their behaviour
  • Have an understanding of factors that contribute to young peoples resistance to change and ways of working with this.
  • Have increased their knowledge of alcohol and drugs
  • Have increased their knowledge and understanding of young peoples substance use
  • Know where and how to get further help and information
