This course is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with people who have housing or accommodation problems and who wants to assess and advise people correctly of their options.

This very accessible course will be helpful for new homelessness workers and those working in the drug and alcohol, social care and criminal justice fields.

Aims:

  • To help workers identify if someone is homeless within the relevant legislation and advise of possible courses of action
  • To give workers an understanding of tenancy law so they can correctly advise clients of their options

Following completion of this course participants will:

  • Have an understanding of current homelessness legislationHave the information needed to assess if someone is homeless
  • Know the different types of private sector tenancies and why this is important
  • Have an understanding of the issues related to eviction and notice to quit
  • Be aware of how to refer to housing services appropriately
  • Be updated on new developments in the field
