Mountains to Water was founded by Craig Palmer an Ex Royal Marine Commando who has over 18 years of outdoor leadership experience gained from both active service in the Royal Marines and within the outdoor leisure industry.

Craig has extensive qualifications in both mountain and water activities to a very high standard and is an acknowledged expert in mountaineering.

Craig is an active member of Penrith Mountain Rescue Team and was a former felltop assessor who’s job it is to provide winter snow and ice condition reports on Helvellyn for Weatherline on behalf of the Lake District National Park.


All instructors employed by Mountains to Water are hands-on professionals who have the appropriate recognized industry qualifications and a high level of outdoor experience.

Having BBQ Lunch Before Gorge WalkingWe believe that one of the keys to a good day out in the hills or on the water is quality food and drinks. We provide lunch with both hot and fresh cold choices, plenty of steaming hot drinks, mineral water and ample snacks.

All of our guides hold first aid qualifications and know how to use them. We all carry comprehensive first aid kits appropriate to the activities. Safety is our prime concern so all you need to worry about is whether you can cope with so much excitement!
